Shepard and Betty have had quite the launch into life and now they’re ready for their final destination: a loving home together.

Commander Shepard (orange tabby boy) was part of the “astronaut kittens” litter — rescued at the last minute from a euthanasia list with severe eye infections. Many in the litter would be partially or fully blind, exploring their world like astronauts in the dark. Shepard lost both of his eyes, but nothing slows his orbit. He loves to “land” at the top of the cat tree, pounce on any tail that enters his flight path, and chase the sound of mylar crinkle balls as if they were comets streaking by. He climbs like a pro and makes a careful rear-end-first descent back to Earth.

Every astronaut needs a co-pilot, and for Shepard, that’s Betty (brown tabby girl), affectionately nicknamed Apple Brown Betty. She’s from a different litter and had her own minor eye challenge — a bit of scarring in one eye that may fade with time, leaving her with only a small blind spot. Betty’s as sweet as they come, purring instantly when picked up, and she’s a skilled pilot of the feather chaser toy. Shepard often tries to “dock” with her mid-zoom, resulting in playful space maneuvers.

These two are a bonded crew — cuddling in their capsule, exploring together, and ensuring neither is ever lost in the void. Shepard may steer by sound and touch, but with Betty as his co-pilot, they’re ready to chart a course into your heart.

If you’re looking for two loving companions who will fill your home with joy, purrs, and maybe a few daring spacewalks to the top of the cat tree, Shepard and Betty are ready for liftoff.
